Not Broken, But Becoming: Your Identity in Christ

Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught to see ourselves as “damaged goods.”
Because of our past.
Because of our mistakes.
Because of what we survived.
We began to believe that we needed to be fixed before we could be used, healed before we could be chosen, whole before we could be loved.
But that was never God’s narrative.
In Christ, you are not broken — you are becoming.
God Never Called You Broken
The world labels wounds as defects. God sees them as places of transformation.
Scripture tells us that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Not a repaired version of the old self. Not a patched-up identity. New.
God does not look at you and see something ruined that needs replacement. He sees a daughter in process — shaped, refined, and formed by His hands.
Brokenness is not your identity.
Becoming is.
Identity Comes From Who Holds You, Not What Hurt You
When pain goes unresolved, it tries to rename us:
“Unworthy”
“Too much”
“Not enough”
“Disqualified”
But identity is not determined by what happened to you. It is established by Who you belong to.
You are not your trauma.
You are not your past.
You are not your worst decision.
You are a daughter of God — chosen, called, and covered by grace.
And daughters don’t have to earn belonging. They live from it.
Becoming Requires Trusting the Process
Becoming can feel uncomfortable. Growth often feels like stretching, pruning, and surrender. It’s easier to label ourselves as broken than to stay present in the tension of transformation.
But God is intentional in every season.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” (Philippians 1:6)
Notice that God doesn’t abandon the work halfway through. He doesn’t get frustrated with your progress. He doesn’t regret choosing you.
If you feel unfinished, it’s because you are — and that’s not failure. That’s formation.
You Don’t Have to Shrink to Be Accepted
One of the enemy’s greatest lies is convincing God’s daughters to dim their light until they feel “ready.”
But God never asked you to shrink your calling until you felt perfect.
He asked you to follow Him.
Your becoming doesn’t disqualify you from obedience.
Your questions don’t cancel your calling.
Your growth doesn’t make you less worthy of love.
God works through willing hearts, not flawless ones.
Becoming Is Holy Work
Every step of your growth matters — even the messy ones.
The moments when you’re learning to set boundaries.
The seasons when you’re unlearning old patterns.
The times when faith feels fragile but present.
These are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are signs that God is shaping you.
You are not falling apart — you are being formed.
A Word for the God Girl in Transition
If you’re in a season where you don’t fully recognize yourself yet, take heart.
You are not lost.
You are not delayed.
You are becoming who God always knew you were.
Rest in this truth: God doesn’t rush becoming. He honors it.
And when He finishes the work He started in you, it will reflect His glory — not your past.
Declare This Over Your Life
I am not broken.
I am becoming.
I belong to God.
And He is not finished with me yet.
